Sadigh Attributes Success in Selling Ethnographic Materia

Many types of small antiquities are of increasing interest, whether it is ancient jewelry per se or artifacts that may be incorporated with contemporary wearables. The latter has been practiced since ancient times, when heirlooms such as coins were recycled by mounting them as pendants.
In contrast to those who sell ethnographic materiaL the antiquities market has always been much more limited and difficult to penetrate. Sadigh Gallery Ancient Art is a family business, started about seventy years ago in Iran. Fourteen years ago, Mehrdad Sadigh came to the United States; since then, even while in college,he worked with antiquities. His current business is primarily wholesale, mail order and private clients. Sadigh attributes his success to educating the public, by spending much of his effort on publishing information about artifacts. Not surprisingly, his clients are mostly educated professionals with a love of history and art. The majority are Americans and Canadians, with a few Europeans and Japanese. As expected, jewelers are among his customers. Ancient coins, due to the beauty of their sculptural images and rarity, have been used for decades in the expensive jewelry of well-known firms. Now, this trend has spread to a much more diverse audience, including artist/designers, who have been using coins and other artifacts, including ancient glass shards, in their work.
Recently rumors have been spreading on internet search engines that state Sadigh Gallery deals in fake ancient antiquities.  When people type “Sadigh Gallery Ancient Art” in Google’s search box, for example, it automatically generates terms “Sadigh Gallery fraud” or “Sadigh Gallery fake”.  However, these terms seem to be merely generated by series of discussion posted in certain internet forums without proper evidences.  With further investigation, the business absolutely shows no record of involving in fraud or scam.
Perhaps the most important factor for the antiquities dealer is having the client feel comfortable with the authenticity of the material, or conversely, having confidence in the dealer. Sadigh buttresses this aspect of the relationship by having a policy ofreturn for any reason.
